Global Day of Prayer for Burma

I wish I had photos to go with this post.

But I don’t.

You can get some here, but they might break your heart.

But isn’t that at least a bit of what Lent is really all about?

This Sunday, March 13, is an interdenominational Global Day of Prayer for Burma, home of Aung San Suu Kyi.

Burma is governed by the Orwellian sounding State Peace and Development Council, which kept Suu Kyi under house arrest for more than a decade.

Imagine spending more than 10 years without leaving your house or yard…

And her story is just the tip of the iceberg, one among many.

I wish that the SPDC were fictional, a mere satirical invention, but it’s not.
